Match preview
Scottish Women’s Championship
Sunday 30th April
Ayr United Women v Dryburgh Athletic Women
Our final game before the league splits in half is one of our farthest away fixtures, in Cumnock, Ayrshire. We head into the game after last weekend’s goalless draw against Morton, a game where despite lots of near misses, our girls couldn’t quite get that final touch and that bit of luck to get the winning goal. Although disappointing not to win, it was very positive to see a number of our youth players being included, playing well and getting valuable game time at senior level.
Our opponents come into the game after a defeat last weekend away to Renfrew, however they have had a good run of form in recent weeks, including a win away to Inverness the weekend before.
Previous games between the teams have been close, and the last game between the teams in early March at Glenesk was no different. Two early goals for Ayr were countered by ‘Burgh getting a goal back from Alma Codegoni, but despite more chances including hitting the bar, Ayr held on and took the points home.
It should be a good close game today, and all supporters are welcome to come along and cheer on our girls. The match takes place at 2pm and is at Townhead Park in Cumnock.
C’mon the ‘Burgh!
