This weekend sees our girls face an in-form Inverness team who have always given us very close, tight games. There’s no better example of that than the game earlier in the season at Glenesk Park when 2 early goals for the visitors were countered by 2 for Dryburgh, setting up a thrilling last phase of the match. Right at the death though, the visitors were awarded a hotly contested penalty, which was then converted to give the Highlanders a 3-2 win and the three points to take back up the A9. Meantime their recent form has also been good, with a strong 3-0 home win against Hutchison Vale 2 weekends ago, followed by a goalless draw against high flyers Renfrew last Sunday.

In the home camp though, the ‘Burgh squad will be optimistic after a recent run of good form. Last Sunday’s 1-0 defeat to Rossvale was a blip on the back of a 4 game unbeaten run. “Hellish” weather conditions in Glasgow made the game something of a lottery, with the torrential rain and a strong wind causing havoc for any hopes for stylish play from either team. However over recent weeks the ‘Burgh squad has received many plaudits for our style of play and quality football, and although light on goals, equally very few goals have been conceded. Meanwhile their commitment to each other is evident, with the team working well together and creating many chances.

So for Sunday, our girls will be hoping for a repeat of the  Cup 2nd round fixture 3 weeks ago, when a late goal from Megan Robb gave them the victory over Renfrew. But there’s no doubt that Inverness will be hungry for that win too, and it all adds up to the prospect of an exciting game at Glenesk.

Kick off is at 1.30pm, with admission from 1pm, £3 for adults - Concessions £1 - Dryburgh players and coaches free. Cafe will be open for snacks and refreshments.

This weekend both teams will be highlighting that there is NO room for racism as part of the #ShowRacismTheRedCard campaign.

We look forward to seeing you there - C’mon the ‘Burgh!!
