SWF Championship/League 1 Cup
Sunday 9th October
Dryburgh Athletic v Renfrew Ladies
This Sunday sees our Dryburgh Women’s Championship squad start their defence of the SWF Championship/League 1 Cup. The Cup - renamed following the recent league restructure to include League 1 - was memorably won by Dryburgh last November at the Falkirk Stadium, and our girls are all looking forward to the challenge of defending it.
Our opponents are Renfrew, who we have only just played last weekend in the league! Last Sunday’s game finished goalless, and although memorable for Chantelle McKay’s penalty save, Dryburgh were unlucky to be held to a draw, having more of the game’s chances including a great save thwarting Laura Boag, a great, brave save off the feet of Alma Codegoni and Chelsey Lownie hitting the post. Also notable was some quality midfield play, as well as the strength of the ‘Burgh defence, with Renfrew not scoring in a league game for the first time this season. However, our opponents’ form has been impressive all season and it will mean once again that our girls will have to look lively in all areas of the park.
The match kicks off at 1.30pm at Glenesk Park, with the gate open for admission to spectators from 1pm for admission. The cafe will be open for snacks. Admission is £3, concession £1, and Dryburgh players/coaches free.
We look forward to seeing you there to cheer on our girls - go Dryburgh!
