Match preview
Barclays Scottish Women’s Championship
Sunday 16th February
Dryburgh Athletic Women v Inverness CT Women
After the disappointment of last week’s match being postponed due to a waterlogged pitch, we are back home at New Beechwood Park for our return fixture against league high flyers Inverness, who currently sit in second spot in the league. Games against Inverness have always been tight over the last few years, and this weekend’s match surely won’t be any different. We are hoping for revenge for our 2-0 defeat earlier in the season back in October, in a game where we were unlucky not to get at least a point.
Although we ended up with a free Sunday, our opponents Inverness continued their recent good form last weekend with a 4-3 home win against Stirling University. The first half was somewhat eventful, with Stirling racing into a 3-0 lead but incredibly Inverness pulled the game back to level at 3-3 by half time. The winner was scored in the second half, surely a testament to the Highlanders’ fighting spirit to bring back the game from what looked like certain defeat.
Meanwhile, our Dryburgh girls are keen to get back to winning ways, so Sunday’s match will no doubt be hard fought with both sides keen to get a win.
