We are back home to New Beechwood Park this Sunday to play Morton. The Greenock side are no strangers to us, with our 3 matches against them last season ending up with 2 wins for ‘Burgh and a goalless draw. The most recent game was the final game of last season on a Friday evening in early May at the Quest Arena (Whitton Park), with our 3-0 home win that night including a first ever senior goal from Rebecca Lonie, who of course has now consolidated her place in the squad, and indeed was last weekend’s player of the match in the 2-0 away defeat to Inverness.
Meanwhile Morton were also defeated last weekend, losing 5-1 to Stirling University, with their previous league match ending up in a tight 2-2 draw against Stenhousemuir.
Over the years our games against the Greenock side have always been tough. They have a talented, committed group and they always have a defence that can be hard to break down, but we hope that ‘Burgh’s young strike force can manage to find a way through this weekend.
Across all areas of the pitch though, there’s one thing for sure, which is that our girls will give their all and there’s no doubt it will be an entertaining game on Sunday, with hopefully a big crowd coming along to cheer on the teams.
