The game started in very bright fashion with both teams having an equal share of the opening 20 mins but not actually troubling either goalkeeper.
There was a lot of the play being conducted within the middle of the park but no real out ball for either side, which was frustrating both teams.
Dryburgh kept pushing for the opener however and came within inches of breaking the deadlock when a ball through from midfield was picked up by the lively Myles whose shot rattled off the inside of the post and much to the Blairgowrie keepers relief, ran along the goal line and to safety.
Dryburgh finally got the opener after 31mins when some neat football from Dryburgh in midfield released Bennett on the right who travelled into the Blairgowrie box and shot past the keeper.
Dryburgh doubled their lead in somewhat bizarre fashion in injury time of the first half. The game was stopped whilst Dryburgh were in possession, due to a head knock injury. The game restarted with a drop ball to Dryburgh which was immediately played long and picked up by Bennett, who slipped the ball past the Blairgowrie keeper. It looked like the Blairgowrie defence had stopped and expected the ball to be played back to them from the drop ball, but the referee had no option but to award the goal.
Half time Dryburgh 2 – 0 Blairgowrie.
Dryburgh started the second half in a more positive manner and were having the majority of the play and starting to put the Blairgowrie keeper under more and more pressure.
The hard work was rewarded on 49 mins when a well timed ball from Reilly, was picked up by Bennett, who found herself one on one with the goalkeeper and cooly slotted the home to put Dryburgh 3-0 to the good.
Dryburgh continued their good football and should have been further ahead when the unlucky Myles hit the woodwork for the second time in the match after her goal bound shot picked up a slight defection off a Blairgowrie defender and struck the face of the bar.
It looked like Dryburgh would score again and the sizable home support were not to be disappointed, when on the 76th minute a delightful strike at goal from outside the box by Reilly gave the keeper no chance.
Full time Dryburgh 4 – 0 Blairgowrie.
Player of the match - Leah McIllravey.
Dryburgh have a spare week next week and then travel to Edinburgh South for more League Cup action.
