Match preview

Scottish Women’s Championship

Sunday 11th February

Dryburgh Athletic Women v Inverness CT Women

It’s been a couple of weeks since the last league game, so we are looking forward to seeing our fantastic Dryburgh squad in action on Sunday afternoon.

Our visitors are Inverness, who head down to Dundee from the Highlands after a couple of recent defeats against strong opposition. Their most recent game was 2 weeks ago against league leaders Rossvale. The game looked like it was heading for a 1-1 draw until the Glasgow side scored 2 late goals to win 3-1 and head home with the points.

Meanwhile, earlier in January Inverness made history with their Scottish Cup game against Rangers, which attracted  a crowd of just over 1000 to the Caledonian Stadium.  Although they were defeated, the occasion was a memorable day for the hosts, playing in front of such a big crowd against full time SWPL1 opposition.

With a recent 3-2 home against Renfrew followed by a 2-1 loss away to East Fife, ‘Burgh are raring to go to get a win on Sunday. Despite having much of the play and many chances against the Fifers 2 weeks ago, the home side held on for the win, but it was still a decent showing from Dryburgh that day, against an in-form East Fife team that had inflicted the first defeat of the season on league leaders Rossvale the week before.

Meanwhile this weekend of course ‘Burgh will also want to avenge the 2-1 defeat away to Inverness earlier in the season - that was a very tight match which we might well have won if luck had gone our way.

Sunday’s game takes place at the Regional Performance Centre (RPC) at Caird Park, with a 3.45pm kick off. Gates open at 3pm.

Admission - Adults £4 - Concessions £2 - U16s and Dryburgh players/coaches & Season Tickets FREE

We look forward to seeing you there, come along and cheer on the teams!
