RONNIE “HONOURED”

13/07/2020

We are delighted to let you know our club have tonight recognised the services of long serving former Chairman Ronnie McCabe.

Ronnie has been awarded the title, Dryburgh Athletic Community Club “Honorary Chairman”.

His involvement with Dryburgh Athletic spans almost a lifetime, having played for Dryburgh Boys as a youth from the age of 12.  Ronnie won many honours, with the pinnacle being a Scottish Cup final runners up appearance with the under 18s.  He then returned to the club 17 years ago when his son Martyn joined the then U9s.  Ronnie initially joined the committee, then became Secretary, Vice Chairman and finally progressing to Chairman 10 years ago.

As Club Chairman, he has given the last 16 years, growing and developing Dryburgh Athletic from a boys football club into a progressive all inclusive SFA Quality Mark Community Club.

The club now has over 250 players, over 50 volunteers and offers football to male and female players aged 3 to adulthood.  During his time as Chairman there have been many positive achievements.

The club now has a paid member of staff with a club development officer in place.  The Community Club is a registered charity (SCIO) boasting an online registration and database system.  Dryburgh are also now part of the Ancrum Community Sports Hub focused on working together with other local clubs to offer sporting opportunities to the people of Lochee and the West end of Dundee.  All of which couldn’t have been possible without Ronnie’s hard work and dedication.

On behalf of our Club, Ronnie we sincerely Thank You.
